A GPX file is a type of file used to store location data like points of interest, paths, and routes. It's commonly used in GPS devices and apps for outdoor activities like hiking or biking to record and share where you've been or plan to go. The file contains geographic coordinates (like latitude and longitude) and can be viewed or edited using mapping software or GPS apps. Essentially, it's a way to save and share location-based information.

In Swyvl, when you create a GPX file alongside capturing your 360 photos for Path View, you can more accurately place the 360 photos on the map.

Step 1: Install a GPS tracker app on your phone

To accurately place your 360 images later, you need to record the GPS coordinates of your route. This needs to be in a GPX format which can be created in many different ways. The apps below are free.

Step 2: Start Your Capture Session

Hot tip: before starting, ensure your camera is calibrated to the timezone you are capturing in so that the data accurately syncs. On the Insta360 X4 this is as simple as connecting it to the Insta360 app on your phone.
